Yes - however, a solar hot water system does require water storage. The most common locations for a new cylinder are in a old airing cupboard or up in your loft.
Do you need planning permission?
Under Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995, Solar panels are usually considered a permitted development and permission is not normally needed. If you live in a conservation area or area of outstanding natural beauty permission may be required depending on the site of the collectors. Can you install on listed buildings?
Yes, you can install systems on grade 1 and 2 listed buildings. It is important to look for an inconspicuous site.
How much does it cost?
Because each system is unique to the property, the price will depend on many aspects, such as position of collectors, size of cylinder, number of occupants.
Will I be without hot water during the installation?
Only for a short time whilst the hot water cylinder is changed over. You will not be without hot water overnight.
